The Art of Keeping Your Production Team in Sync

The art of keeping your team in sync -EYNTK (1)

One of the most effective ways to ensure everyone is aligned is by writing concise summaries of your meetings with the Production and Edit teams. These summaries act as a reference point, minimizing confusion and helping everyone stay on the same page.

Another handy tip: send a status update email every Friday. It’s the perfect time to recap the week and set expectations for the next. Whether you’re detailing which editors are working on specific projects or highlighting upcoming cut dates, these updates can be a game-changer for maintaining momentum.

When you transition into the Finishing stage, communication becomes even more critical. At this point, sending a detailed email to your entire team is essential. This email should clearly outline where each team member needs to be for sign-offs at every stage of the process. No one should be left guessing—clarity is key.

Here’s a snapshot of what a Finishing schedule might look like:

  • Monday, January 1st
Bank Holiday – No activities scheduled
  • Tuesday, January 2nd
    Online – Episode 1 Pre-Grade
    Audio – Episode 1 Tracklay
  • Wednesday, January 3rd

  • Thursday, January 4th

  • Friday, January 5th
    Online – Episode 2 Pre-Grade

Incorporating these practices into your routine can streamline your workflow, enhance collaboration, and ensure that nothing falls through the cracks. After all, a well-informed team is a productive team.

Clear communication is the backbone of any successful production, especially when juggling multiple projects and tight deadlines.
